Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 25, 2026

1. Introduction

Clypse, LLC ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our video processing service.

This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service. Where we rely on your consent for a specific processing activity (such as certain analytics or marketing), you may withdraw it at any time as described below.

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided)
  • Profile picture (if using social login)
  • Authentication data managed via Google OAuth

When you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number. We receive:

  • Last four digits of your card
  • Card expiration date
  • Billing address
  • Transaction history

Usage Data

We automatically collect:

  • URLs of videos you submit for processing
  • Processing timestamps and duration
  • Feature usage (caption styles, export settings)
  • Error logs and crash reports (via Sentry)
  • IP address and approximate location
  • Browser type and device information

Video Content

When you use our Service, we temporarily process video content. See Section 4 for details on how we handle video data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process your video clips and deliver results
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, clip ready notifications)
  • Respond to customer support requests
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve performance
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse
  • Enforce our Terms of Service
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do NOT sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Video Processing and Data Retention

How Video Processing Works

When you submit a video URL, our system:

  1. Downloads the video temporarily to our processing servers
  2. Extracts audio for transcription analysis
  3. Uses AI to identify potentially engaging moments
  4. Generates clips based on your preferences
  5. Makes clips available for download

Video Data Retention

  • Source videos: Deleted within 24 hours of processing completion
  • Generated clips: On the Free plan, clips are available for download for 3 days, then automatically deleted. On paid plans, clips do not expire and remain available until you delete them or close your account
  • Transcription data: Deleted after processing; not stored long-term
  • Video metadata: (title, duration, thumbnail URL) may be retained for usage analytics

Content Ownership

We do NOT claim any ownership rights over videos you process or clips we generate. You retain all rights to your content. We only process content as a service provider at your direction.

5. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Clypse. These providers only process your data as necessary to deliver our Service and are bound by their own privacy policies.

Authentication

We use Google OAuth for sign-in. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture. See the Google Privacy Policy.

Payments

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never store your full card details. See the Stripe Privacy Policy.

AI & Content Processing

We use third-party AI and machine learning services for content analysis, highlight detection, and speech-to-text transcription. Video content and audio you submit may be processed by these providers to deliver the Service. We select providers that offer appropriate data protection and do not use your content for training their AI systems.

Platform Content

When you submit a video URL, we access content from the relevant platform (YouTube, Twitch, Kick, or Rumble) using their public APIs. By using our Service with YouTube content, you are also bound by the Google Privacy Policy.

Other Services

We also use third-party providers for product analytics, error and performance monitoring, and transactional and account email delivery. These services may process usage data, technical error reports, and email delivery metadata to help us operate and improve the Service.

Categories of recipients (subprocessors)

To provide the Service we rely on a limited set of vendors acting as our processors, in the following categories: cloud hosting and storage; speech-to-text and AI/ML content-analysis providers (which process the video and audio you submit to generate clips); payment processing; authentication; product analytics and error monitoring; and email delivery. These providers are permitted to use your data only to perform services for us and are bound by contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. We do not authorize them to use the content you submit to train their own models. You may request the current list of our key subprocessors by emailing [email protected].

6. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential cookies: Required to keep you logged in and the Service functioning
  • Preference cookies: Remember your settings (caption style, export preferences)
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how users interact with the Service (via PostHog). These collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited and features used

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies will prevent you from staying logged in; blocking analytics cookies will not affect core functionality. Our analytics provider is configured to respect the browser "Do Not Track" signal.

Depending on your location, you may have additional choices over non-essential cookies and analytics. To object to or withdraw consent for analytics, or to exercise the rights described in Section 8, contact us at [email protected].

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption at rest for sensitive data
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Regular security assessments
  • Secure cloud infrastructure

However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (generally within one month under the GDPR, which may be extended for complex requests, and within 45 days under the CCPA). We may need to verify your identity before acting. You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request access and deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information (including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising). We do not sell your personal information for money. Some analytics technologies may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under California law; you may opt out by emailing [email protected]. You may also use an authorized agent to submit requests.

EU/EEA and UK Residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have rights under the applicable data-protection laws. Our legal bases for processing are: performance of our contract with you (providing the Service); our legitimate interests (operating, securing, and improving the Service and preventing fraud), balanced against your rights; your consent (for certain analytics and marketing, which you may withdraw at any time); and compliance with legal obligations. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

9. Children's Privacy

Clypse is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States, which may have different data-protection laws. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country that has not received an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK Addendum), an applicable adequacy decision, or a recognized certification framework, together with supplementary measures where needed. You may request more information about these safeguards by emailing [email protected].

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

12. Contact Us

For questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, please contact us:

Email: [email protected]

For data protection inquiries in the EU, you may also contact your local data protection authority.
